A black hole isn't a hole, but, it also isn't a solid body. It is an "area' of extremely powerful gravity, so powerful that nothing, not even light can escape No one has ever "seen" a black hole. Their existence is a mathematical probability. In theory, a black hole is at the center of our galaxy, and gives it the spiral shape which is due to revolutionary movement. The galaxy revolves around this black hole. Caught in the gravity of a black hole, matter is pulled in, presumably, falling apart as the energy which binds atoms together is what the black hole feeds upon. It is further theorized that time stops at the center of a black hole. It is certainly true that time becomes twisted, The effect of gravity on time is one of the foundations of Quantum Physics and Quantum Mechanics. It is now being postulated by some in the field that a black hole could be a universe within the universe.
