If it is the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) that you are referring to then: Yes they have been smashing together stuff and have been getting some amazing results but unfortunately not the major one they were hoping for. The anti-matter creation is successful but in such small quantities that it isn't really useful for any real life applications outside of the lab. Calculated cost for one gram of anti-matter to be produced lies currently around about 60 billion USD.
Regarding the "God" particle or the higgs boson, the scientists had some indication that they might have solved the mystery of the god particle when they noticed anomalies in their test results that could prove its existence. However when they tried to duplicate the results to get a confimation of this the anomaly became weaker for every time they tested and could not provide conclusive data. This means that they havent yet been able to locate the one particle that gives mass to other material.
Looks like Stephen Hawking won this bet for the time being :)
