I love looking out every day of the week at the coastline near where I live. The Sunshine Coast has many communities scattered along its length, but there are still stretches of natural vegetation along the foreshore. The Council and State Government have worked together to declare many areas National Park and other areas as "green" areas. This places a restriction on the number of dwellings within a given zone.
There's not much that can be done about sand erosion during storms, because prior to the green movement, the frontal dune area was built upon. I talk about issues like this with my classes and look at working locally to sustain our natural environment.
