How are kids supposed to afford college in today's economy?

Ask the college & it's professors to take a pay cut. Something those who profess to care about your student, have never done.

I think colleges need to come down in price.  If things keep up the way they are going only the rich will be able to afford college.  We will be going back to the way it used to be where you were lucky to get an associate degree or went to a trade school.

Student loans.  And maybe some scholarships.

Oldersisters idea about colleges coming down in prices is a great one, but who knows if it is realistic.

Gusser makes a good point about staff making paycuts.  This could be possible at some schools with particularly high pay rates, but I know at my college the professors salaries were hardly something to write home about... so I think that's a good suggestion, but I don't know if it is relevant to all colleges and universities.

Cut the number of general requirements needed for a degree and have all of the classes that you take relate to your major.  Forcing students to take physical education in college wastes money.  Force schools to cut their budgets and consolidate as much as possible.  Look at staff benefits and raises a then bring them online with the private sector and inflation.

They need to apply for financial aid (FAFSA) and apply for scholarships. I also took out a loan during college, and I had a part-time job.
