Another what if is, the intervention of France during the American revolution. If France had not intervened, the thirteen colonies could not have won their independence from Britain. Another what if is, if the Russians did not enter the war against Japan the Russians would not have landed an army in Korea and occupied the North. In that case there would be no division of Korea into South and North. More importantly, the present Korea problem would be remote. I am thinking of writing another Hub on this topic.
