Cockroaches of any size are filthy and carry diseases. They are hard to control and breed in darkness especially in hard-to-reach areas. I lived in an apartment once that was already infested by these creepy roaches. No matter how we keep our fridge, kitchen cupboards, cabinets and counter clean by using and maintaining it with detergent soap every night, the roaches still feast out. They party big time occupying the whole kitchen counter space, come in and out of the sink drain and every single one would scamper away speedily with guilt and crime in their heads when we arrive late in the night from having to enjoy our partying somewhere. The moment the kitchen light is turned on, the roaches run wild as if chased by police cars! We can't help but disturb our next door neighbour from swiftly and violently blowing our kitchen top with big bangs! The kids have to be snuggly put to bed so we could continue with the riot in the kitchen. It was a hectic everyday thing since I have to keep our dishes, utensils and everything else washed in soapy hot water each time before serving time.
They like to crawl in between the rubber lining of the fridge door too! These creepers also prefer cool air-conditioning, geez! And not just that, they have found that living inside my telephone was a convenient way for some of them to steal my line.
The cockroaches back in the Philippines or Asian roaches are huge, the size of your thumb! They would fly around the room and would dive straight onto your head, if you are lucky enough. If not, the meaner ones were like the Japanese kamikazi pilots and these roaches will point their suicide flights straight into your shirt! They have no way out, but it will get you skipping and scampering like crazy in a panic around the room!
Cockroaches are NASTY. Period.
Home spiders on the other hand are considered as helpful insects. They trap other unwanted IFO's (Identified Flying Objects) at home. Identified. We know which the annoying ones are! However, we also do not want to be living in a house full of cobwebs or we can move in into a haunted mansion. For those who are freaked out with these insects or bugs at home, it is easy to kill these critters.
I for one wouldn't kill a harmless spider, but my arachnophobic daughter would surely would. With roaches, we are left with no choice. ~
