There are so many aspects, viewpoints & opinions as to darkness as there are people. There are people who contend that darkness is the diametric opposite of light. They contend that darkness has a less than positive, even negative connotation. They view darkness as somewhat abject, dismal, even evil in its inception. They see darkness as a harbinger for even more horrifying things to come. They assert that darkness is something that should be avoided if necessary. There is a subset of such people who are actually afraid of darkness as it is unknown, even dangerous in its essence.
There are others who are afraid of darkness because it represents elements of the forbidden, the taboo. It embodies what they are not allowed to do either by their families, religions, & by the outer society. It further represents uninhibitedness, even an unadulterated license to reach sensuous heights. It is really pushing the envelope beyond which is allowed by society.
There are many quite apprehensive of darkness it is unknown, unsafe.......unfamiliar. Darkness is unchartered territory. One never knows what/who is.....lurking about. That is why so many negative associations is with the darkest time of day.......night. Nighttime has so many negative & ominous associations in the human consciousness but I digress. Darkness is undercover, hidden, even occult. It is not evident nor open.
To many, darkness is delightfully delicious. It is musky, sensual, & delectable. It represents exoticness & sensuality of a richer, sultrier variety. It is beckoning & alluring. It is bold without shouting. It makes a profound statement. It is ultimate serenity & confidence. It is an acquired taste to love, appreciate, & embrace the darkness. It is the beginning beyond all beginnings & will be the end beyond all ends. It is everything & nothingness.
