   Why don't I have followers?
   
   Why don't I have any followers? Some people have over a thousand followers, and I don't have a single one! What should I do differently?

   First, I would have to ask if you are here to obtain followers or because writing is your passion and you are compelled to do this regardless of the outcome.
   
   Second, if you are here to just gather followers, then you will have to follow a lot of people yourself.  That way, no matter what quality of writing you have you are sure to get a group of people who will follow you out of 'obligation' so to speak.   
   
   Third, if you are truly here to write and write quality material you will get a following.  No matter what your main interests are, i.e. computer games, others will find that interesting if that is there thing.  Read the advice offered in the Lesson Center to understand the criteria that Hubpages considers 'quality'.  Also, read other people's hubs whose scores are in the 90's and 80's.  See what they are doing and follow their example.
   
   Fourth, to meet people who might be interested in checking out your work participate.  Pariticpation in the forums, weekly topic of interest, (WTI) and comments on other people's hubs will net you followers.  It's always good to respond back to the comments that people make to you to get an 'interaction' goind and build a rapport.
   
   Fifth-writing a hub that merely lists things is not necessarily wrong, but it doesn't have the advantage of some of the more indepth hubs have.  People are intersted in learning other things-what inspired the list, why that particular subject, etc.
   
   Sixth-you have to keep writing and give yourself time.  People who have hundreds of followers did not do this just in one day.  Nor did they do this by not moving forward with continuing their writing.
   
   Seventh-you can add me to the hub, 'people you want to smack' if you don't like any of the suggestions offered here.

   Hey Firefox, you've only been here a few days. Followers will come. It is time to crank out some more hubs. So far so good. Don't forget to blitz the forums, but watch out who you pop off to. You might get flagged by a stool pigeon with an itchy click finger.

   Well I too am questioning why you would expect followers so quickly.  None of us obtained followers quickly. My best advice to you is to read other people's work and comment on it.  Most importantly rate their work by providing direct feeedback and a thumbs up.
   
   There is a unwritten rule on hubpages that if you wish to be read then read other peoples' work. 
   
   There is also a standard to which you will be accustom to writing consistent with the expectations of HP but only if you read others' work.
   
   All of us work hard here on Hubpages and succes doesn't happen overnight.  It takes a great deal of work and diligence inorder to be successful but most of all it takes participation in this online community by reading other people's work.
   
   Set a goal of readng 10 hubs a day.  This can easily be done by hitting the hopping hubs button.  If you do this everyday in two weeks you will pick up followers.

      Yeah. I'm not sure why i thought i would be an overnight, one in a million success. I saw all these great hubs and and how popular they were, i started to wonder why i wasn't popular lol.

   you have written two hubs in three days. You already have a hub under publication. That is a remarkable progress. You have seven followers on one question and 5 overall followers in 3 days. That is also a remarkable progress. Your writing style is remarkable. I am sure you will have thousands of followers some day. Wait and keep on writing hubs, questions and answers. Best wishes.

    Followers are not nearly as good as readers. I really does not matter how many followers you have if they do not read your pages. Focus on writing excellent original content that engages the reader and provides value to the reader and you will not only have followers but you will have readers. Readers, and the amout of time they spend reading your work is how you will make money here on Hubpages.

    Well, it looks like you have some new ones now! I find that being active in hopping hubs and commenting, posting/answering questions, and jumping into the forums now and again help people get to know you better.

    Welll.... since you have only been a Hubber for less than a week, you may take into consideration no-one knows your here. 
    Try reading other Hubbers Hubs and commenting, or following them.  That's a good way to start building your own following.
    Write interesting Hubs so you get repeat readers.
    Go to the forums and get involved.
    Answer questions. 
    Hang in there....

    How many people do you follow? Very often this is a reciprocal relationship.
    
    This next 2 weeks, don't think about how others can help you. Think about how you can help others. Support and encourage others. Reply with thoughtful answers and genuine interest.
    
    Be an active, courteous participant.
    
    Do not compare yourself to others. Compare yourself to you. Ask "did I do my best?" "Am I happy with the way I preformed this week?" and "How can I improve my writing skills?"
