Does it mean 'telling it like it is'? Does it mean stretching the truth? Is it important to you to teach your children to be honest? If someone you know and trust, lies in your presence, do you still feel that person will be honest with you? Is the honesty of another person important to you. Any thoughts??????

I think this verse is referring to the habit of lying for one's own gain, as in those who might also be defined as "cowardly, unbelieving, vile," etc. There are instances in the Bible in which God actually rewards those who lie to protect others.
