I teach Spanish, and if English is your native language, I think Spanish is not too difficult to learn.  Of course, I could be biased.

I have also heard that spanish is quite easy to learn (in comparison to learning other languages of course - none of them are going to be a walk in the park). I am currently learning Italian though and am not too taxed by it either.

As a native speaker of English, I have studied several other languages and think Italian was one of the easiest. Spanish is similar to Italian so there might not be much difference in their difficulty levels.

American Sign Language, at least the basics, are very easy for English speakers to pick up since the alphabet is the same and many English words have exact parallels in ASL.

I have learnt French, Spanish and German. As an Englishman I found Spanish to be the easiest to pick up and German the most complicated. However I use German the most and think this is becoming an important language to learn, especially in the business world.

I have been told by most other Europeans that learning English is pretty easy and I can see why. It's a lot less complicated in terms of grammar and structure.

It certainly depends on what your native language is.  If you are a native English speaker, the European languages have some similarities.  Asians find English difficult - especially the Chinese.

depends on what is your mother tougue.

if your mother tougue is English, you should learn similar languages like spanish, italian,
if your mother tongue is Japanese, it will be easier for you to learn Chinese or Korean.

but to learn a language really comes from interest. Interest is your best teacher and can make it a lot easier.

but if you looking for a language to learn to be more competitive for your own career, your future , or for your kids' to be more competitive in the future , you should learn Mandarin. because china's economy booming now. ppl are involved in business relationship more and more.

I say French language and its also a fun language to learn and its has motivation too, you can think of going to Paris one day. I love to learn to speak foreign language and Czech is lots of fun too. Spanish is next to French I would say. For example if you know the french alphabet it sounds almost like spanish or book is libro in spanish and livre in French.

I would say French, especially if you get the series "French in Action." Fun and you learn a lot more than you think!

I would say the easiest language to learn is one that you're passionate about. I tried learning Spanish for 4 years, and it was like I had a mental block against it. I didn't really care for it, so I could never pick it up. I've been studying Italian for just a few months now, and I've learned so much more than I ever did with Spanish because I enjoy the language a lot more.

Other than that, I would probably say the Romance languages (i.e. Spanish, French, Italian, etc.) are the easiest to learn for native English speakers.

I think that every language can be easy to learn if you do it with a professional.
