Depends on what you're trying. For example, I use herbal teas for energy, restful sleep, better focus, pain relief, and much more. When my children are sick with sore throat or a cold, we use a homeopathic cough syrup composed of plant extracts from the store that relieves their symptoms without unwanted side effects.
Pharmaceuticals and homeopathic medicines which extract only the active ingredient for use can be much harsher on body chemistry, while only treating symptoms and not the cause of your ailment. Using plant medicines in whole will often help the body process the active ingredient with usually no unwanted side effects, by supplying buffers and synergists to ease the process.
Homeopathy is a booming industry, so be aware that just because something is labeled "homeopathic" doesn't guarantee it will work, or will work for you. It helps to define your ailment, and then do a little research on what natural remedies may help ease symptoms and allow the body to correct the underlying problem itself.
If you have questions on a certain ailment, I'll be happy to supply you some of my own research-based information on which natural remedies have been scientifically tested and proven effective. Cross-referencing the history and folk-lore of natural remedies with science and clinical trials is the basis for the products I develop and sell through my own business.
