Is turbulence providing a stumbling block for the progress of science and technology?

To be turbulent is to be disorderly, unstable or stochastic. What we call turbulence has many different forms, notably of the the kind that can make planes fall out of the sky, but also in electronic noise, fluid flow and weather, arrhythmic heartbeats, etc. The maths behind turbulence is so complicated that a million-dollar prize is associated with it. As science progresses, will it become necessary to tame turbulence and perhaps even control it?
