1. credibility. Not just anyone can set a trend, normally, a trend setter has some type of credit; often earning them a small following of friends to associates to total strangers.
2. self-confidence-people latch on to it.
3. Success / Money - people want residuals, if someone has money, you can count on someone else wanting to get on their grind. There's nothing wrong with that as long as you know who your following and the goals you've laid out for yourself.
I don't have anymore, but I'd like to think the 3 I listed are valid.
