IMHO, it's a fear of sensuality. I think that, in many ways, puritanism still clouds our minds. Sexuality is either swept under the rug or presented in the most superficial possible terms (e.g. perfume or underwear ads). Sensuality can't be commodified or controlled because it is about real emotion. This can cause a reactive fear for some people that manifests as degrading the feminine in all forms but especially the dark side of femininity.
