   Here in East Tennessee we see a variety of wildlife. From birds to black bears. There is such a variety thriving in the mountains that surround us.

   I live in suburban Southeast Michigan, and not a day goes by that we don't see at least 700 squirrels.  Okay, I may exaggerate, but they really are everywhere around here.  There are oodles of different wild birds as well, from songbirds to water fowl.
   
   We also see a large number of nocturnal animals such as skunks, possums, raccoons.  Even in Michigan cities, we tend to have a lot of wildlife activity.  It's one of my favorite things about living here.

   Raccoons, squirrels, o'possums, jack rabbits, cottontail rabbits, fox, skunk, deer, armadillo, porcupine, and birds of all kinds, mostly dove, scrub jay, cardinals, buzzards, and road runners, and occasionally painted bunting.  We live west of Austin, Texas, near Lake Travis.

      How could I forget to add these birds to the list:  Mockingbirds (the state bird of Texas) and Hummingbirds?

   I live an isolated valley in Montana. We have had moose, deer and bear on our property. We have seen mountain lion and elk and sometimes at night we can hear wolves howl.  I see a lot of bald eagles too and it is such a treat to see them.

   Here in the hillside suburbs of Los Angeles, we see both ground and tree squirrels, usually brown but sometimes gray as well as possums, skunks, raccoons, rats, mice, rabbits, coyotes, white tailed and mule deer, red foxes,  gophers, moles, snakes, lizards, skinks, bobcats, roadrunners, quail, hawks, owls, and at least 20 + other varieties of birds. We also have occasional sightings of bear and mountain lions.

   I'll limit my answer to just those I've seen in my backyard. My list includes:
   a variety of birds - including wild turkeys
   cotton-tail rabbits
   white-tail deer
   skunks
   garter snakes
   a variety of toads
   chipmunks
   squirrels
   groundhogs

   There is not much to see in Ohio, especially the Cincinnati area, other than the overly common species. Some of them are quickly dying off and I don't see many animals that I use to. The local European Wall Lizards that originally came from Italy are the most interesting species seen here.
