Life? Yes I believe there must be simply given that vast numbers involved. Humanoid or highly evolved life is another question.
Most people think that "there are so many planets" but when you take all of the things that go into an Earth environment those number shrink very quickly.
After all you need a breathable atmosphere, liquid water, and lots of it, a moon to keep things spinning and currents flowing, etc. etc.
Finally you need the spark of life to kick things off. Of course we don't know where that comes from or how often it happens.
I don't, on the other hand, believe that we are being visited by highly intelligent aliens who buzz around making crop circles and probing some redneck's output port.
If they had the power to travel millions of light years through interstellar space I think they would land somewhere where they would be most apt to encounter the highest powers.
I also tend to believe that should we ever be visited it won't go well for us. In all likelihood they will be looking for resources just as we would be. They will do whatever they feel they need to in order to take those resources and we will be seen as either another resource (food) or competition that needs to be eliminated.
