Are you referring to the grandfather paradox? If so then you mean if you send the causal link (between the time traveler's present and future) back in time (say instead of eliminating it) would it change the time line. Sending the causal link back in time would change the time line just as if the causal link was eliminated but the effect of sending the causal link back in time would depend upon how far back in time, a minute may not affect the line whereas 100 years would.
