Are Bees Territorial Pollinators? Do they share the Pollen or do they guard it in the wild?

I have flowers and gardens and notice a variety of insects around, particularly Bees. Do they "Acquire" a certain area as their territory or are they open to sharing? If there is a local active hive, do they allow other insects and bee colonies to share in their spoils or do they claim it and make it their own, reacting to other species/colonies that take from the same sources? What is a typical bee behavior for a local/favorite spot in relation to other bee and insect colonies?
