How would YOU envision the world in the year 3000 A.D. in terms of socioeconomics,
education, health, spiritual, and especially technological advancements? How would YOU envision class, gender, racial and ethnic boundaries if there are any?
Right now in most developed countries education is at a standstill. Finland has the best quality of education because the parents demand a lot from the teachers and expect to give a lot to the teachers in return. Also a large percentage of those going to school in Finland would have been born in Finland and to the Finnish language only. Also they would have been born into one culture only. When you think about it this is a huge advantage. Just about everyone starts off their education on the exact same page. Also in Europe they start teaching children a second language and about other cultures in kindergarten. In countries like Australia they start teaching children a second language when they are in high school which is generally too late. Expect more migrants entering countries such as the USA, Great Britain and Australia in the next fifty or so years. Expect huge disruptions to the education system with not enough students starting their education on the same page. Expect not enough translators to cope with the need.
Health will decline in the USA if something isn't done soon. In Australia and Great Britain health will decline if we go down the US track. A more socialist view needs to be taken on heath and too many Americans are taught to fear this. A one per cent rise across the board in tax isn't much for a better health system.
In the future there will be a greater divide between the wealthy and the poor because of health and education. The need for better health and education in developed as well as undeveloped countries will be there but go unsatisfied. Fundamentalist Christian and Muslim religion will be on the rise as it is now. When people are dirt poor they turn to religion and tend to go insane over it. Religious nuts will push as they are pushing now for less equality when it comes to the sexes. Girls may get less of an education and have less rights than they do now. In Australia today fundamentalist Muslims are demanding a stricter dress code on our beaches. This I am personally fighting. I like seeing women in bikinis. There are bound to be race riots in the west over religion and culture. Why can't we just all get along? People are going to start asking that question more and more. Petty wars will continue in the Middle East and in Africa draining coffers and killing too many of the brightest and the best. Some understanding may be reached by 3000. China, the sleeping dragon, is already awake.
WOW, great analysis and QUITE EXCELLENT answer I might add!
To be honest...I see society becoming more anti-social each day and with people opting to work from home, homeschooling, and choosing to purchase via the web...it appears much in tomorrow will be " no need to leave home ". Whether this will eliminate prejudice/discrimination/crime etc. is to be seen. The middleclass are fading out , people are angrier.
There has been a decline /dysfunctionality in families/society since the era of technology ...what was supposed to make our lives easier appears to have taken over 24-7, Heath also is being compromised, people are stressed and overwhelmed, signs of dementia are also appearing at an earlier age, so unless we make changes asap I do not see socioeconomics as a positive in the future....just my thoughts, hope I am wrong !!
I too hope you are wrong but I believe you are right. Change for the better is still possible.
Given that a technological singularity is likely far, far sooner than 1000 years down the road, I think we have to consider that we are going to be essentially indefinitely more complex and intelligent than we currently are. We may not be here on this planet any longer, and if we are, we're almost surely going to be on other planets as well, perhaps even in other solar systems. Consciousness is likely to be quasi-collective, and our brains will be capable of processing information at a rate thousands of times faster than at present.
All of this has to be considered, and I'd say that whatever we choose, today's economic model will look as primitive as that of the Neanderthal looks to us today.
I like your optimism goatfury. In the last decade television has gone from reasonably intellectual to opiate for the masses the way religion used to be in the west and still is elsewhere. I see a great divide already between rich techs and the poor.
Who knows? I feel like the United State's days are numbered though, and it will cease to be a world power.
Very interesting question . My answer would have to be in terms of an example like a pregnancy, we see all humans today suffering from some forms of discomfort, even the rich have their own problems and mental stress, happiness is not based on what you have, or statice you have in politics, religion, entertainment, and relationships, the bible did say in Reference Bible Ro 8:22 For we know that all creation keeps on groaning together and being in pain together until now. This is truth.
Like a pregnant woman having stress of labor pains that will soon end, So will the pains of this life we all live.
King James Version Re 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
The one who said pain would enter from Adam and Eve is the same one that said it will stop!
The cure will run it's course.

Hello hubbers.Would like to hear some opinions! Why do you think there are so many religions, that say those who don't believe in their god are going to hell. So that means we'r all going to hell. If not, that means religion doesn't make sense at times, right? What's your opinion?Do you believe in...

Religion as brainwashing? When children are "trained" to behave in a certain way for 10-15 years, is this brainwashing? We see similar behaviour in the Middle East, terrorism training, is it similar?
