   It is the Mantodea, also known as the Praying Mantis.  Praying mantis’ are related to grasshoppers and crickets, belonging to a family of insects called orthoptera (http://www.itsnature.org/ground/creepy- … g-mantis/. 
   Another very strange bug is the Stick Insect or "Walking Stick," known as Phasmida!

   That's a Praying Mantis. They are great for the garden because they eat many harmful insects. Hope it's a female and she deposits her oblong egg sac in a safe place. Then next spring you'll have hundreds of tiny hungry babies to consume the insect pests.

    Praying mantis. I saw one in past ouside on my window and took some pics...it's on my list to do research and maybe write a hub someday.
