   BLOOD. It is life. Without it we are dead. Seeing lots of it come out of someone is a sign that they are in real trouble.
   
   Organizations that propose to come to the rescue of those in need have red as part of their symbol. Usually we are talking about red on a field of white. There is, for example, the Red Cross. It is an organization that has cared for victims of not only war but also of natural disasters and it is still in operation to this day. There is also red in the symbol chosen by the Royal Flying Doctors - an Australian organization dedicated to people who live in remote areas of the country.
   
   The red cross on a white tunic or a white flag was once the symbol of the Crusader. His mission originally was to free the Holy Land. Whether the Crusader was really an invader with avarice in mind is another question. Certainly a portion of knights who took to the cross went on Crusade to make up for wrongs they had earlier committed. Whether they committed new wrongs in the name of the Church is another story.
   
   The red on the white barber's pole used to be a rag soaked in blood that was wrapped around the pole to show that the barber shop was open for business. The cutting of hair was back then only a minor bit of business. There was also blood letting to cure fever and other ailments connected with one's blood. I'm not sure when the blue on the barber's pole was added or what it symbolizes. Possibly blue blood as in royalty? Or maybe the blood from a humble scribe.

   Th color red reminds me of fire and hot, of beautiful passionate lipstick on a woman in love, of the caution of a stop sign, and love of country from the red in the American flag, of a red sky at night, and the brilliance of a red rose. If you concentrate on red, you can feel the warmth of the color.

   Passion is the first thing that I think of when I hear the color RED.  Tulips is the flower when I think of the color RED.  Warm is the feeling that I get when I think of the color RED.  Love is another thing that I think of when I hear the color RED.

    There are two things which come to my mind - tomatoes/sauce and (red) bell peppers. I love both of their taste and they are good to have in your diet and healthy for you.
    
    Besides being low in sodium, tomatoes are a good source of vitamins A, B6, C, K, folate, potassium/magnesium, sat. fat, cholesterol and more.
    
    I love bell peppers of any color! A cupful is only 45 calories and daily quota of vitamins A , B6, C, E and lutein. They are antioxidant, control diabetes and lower cholesterol.
