That the rules of http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/. That all are treated equal. That education is a fundamental childhood right. That the collective of the community set forth standards not adverse to those above.
US schools are just fine and we fight over right and wrong for our children.
Sharia law is an abomination. Girls should be treated equally with their male neighbors.
Corporal punishment is wrong in a school setting. It worked for me but I am old enough to be classified as a previous species ;-)
So today the rule is and must be. remove the child from the classroom setting if discipline is a problem. Then figure out what is wrong and deal with it. "discipline is so 1950's" Now we must focus on motivation and inspiration.
Punishment should not be left to a teacher at all. They should remove and respect a child's special needs and get them that help.
I know that may seem whacko to some but it is real. Children reflect their environment and must be dealt with accordingly.
