In American society & culture, there are people who are considered to be quite inconsequential, insignificant, even personae non gratae. If not by their parents/families, they are considered such by their peers, teachers, other adult figures, even by their coworkers & bosses. Those in the lower socioeconomic classes are oftentimes viewed as powerless nobodies. People who do not hold high powered, visible or professional positions are seen as nobodies in many societies. Children who are not popular are also considered to be nobodies, even outcasts.
