ChristinS, intelligent response as usual. You're right parents who have large/very large families AREN'T intelligent. They've deep & severe psychiatric issues. They even AREN'T parents in any sense but in the most primitive sense. Great answer!
Is it a fact these things are more common in large families? If so, christen does offer wonderful insights. However, I've seen nuclear families with serious problems and large families that are quite healthy and functional.
Sure, it can happen in any sized family. I've known a small family (3 kids) where things happened and the parents were in denial/not paying attention. Bad/good parenting occur in families of all sizes.
