   This is a very complicated issue to be answered. All of it depends upon our own attitudes and efforts. Both of them are collective, social issues. Each one of us constitute and are entities of both these terms. We are the contributors whether for betterment or destruction of these entities.
   If each one of us care for maintaining this democracy and humanity by thinking positively and sensibly, strive hard in every effort ( both thought and actions) and spread the awareness of it to others, thereby making themselves also contribute for maintenance and development of these great values, then, I hope it will be a good state for democracy and humanity in future making it a better place to live.

      Thanks for your comments. I too believe in optimism. There are many bad ruling across the world, but not every where. I hope we all the world citizens  can make a better democratic system across the world

   The two are not conjoined at the hip like Siamese twins.
   Remember the good old days before the Berlin Wall came tumbling down and Eastern European roads became littered with abandoned Trabants, Skodas and Ladas, to be replaced by Mercs, new Skodas and BMW's?
   The government of East Germany thought of itself as humane and democratic. Honest it did, it was the German Democratic Republic (or Deutsches Demokratisches Republik - DDR).
   Fast forward about twenty years or more and the former East Germany's been left behind in development, as it was when they envied the West.
   Here we have people who risk death to get into the UK across the English Channel through 'people traffickers', even climbing under lorries, into freezer trucks. For what? To live on benefits?
   You can still get murdered in the UK, as anywhere. Murderers get three square meals a day in prison whilst the families have to fork out for burials and get on with life. Which heading does that come under, Democracy or Humanity? in a murder or unlawful killing case (murder vs manslaughter), the accused's lawyers or barristers (County Court or High Court) can plead accidental death on his/her behalf. They won't be executed and might not be deported if they have children. That's all to do with the EU Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. Where's the Democracy there? The EU's judges are appointed as here, not elected. In the UK it's Parliament that appoints them. In Strasbourg's case they're not answerable to Parliament. Humanity? What of the victims? You pays your money and takes your choice.

   Democracy has already died.
   
   In America, voting is a sham. The Corporate Party decides who the viable candidates are and they only pick from their own flock. True Americans no longer exist. Democracy in other countries has been similarly corrupted. It's not a perfect corruption, but it is rapidly approaching such perfection.
   
   The death of democracy has been built on self-concern (selfishness and ego). During the last presidential conventions in America, both parties rejected the votes and merely went by their pre-written scripts.
   
   Humanity is being sucked into the vortex of self-concern, built by the psychopaths who run entire nations, their central banks and even the United Nations. The "togetherness" of one world without boundaries may sound nice, but it won't be. The age of the consumer is about to end. With it, most people will be killed or left to die of starvation or disease. Murdering 6.5 billion people isn't easy, but they have a plan and all the pieces are falling into place for the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse to ride.
   
   But humanity will escape the tyranny. This will happen only when we learn to stop being self-concerned and more concerned about each other. This is the great change toward Maturity.
   
   It won't be easy, but it is inevitable.
   
   The more we give up self-concern, now, the more suffering we avoid.
