In scientifically sound research, the opposite is true, shown in research from 1980 to the present day. Bloggers, however, sometimes see a single instance of impatience in an intelligent person as a consistent personality trait: "High IQ people are impatient" - This is a stereotype.
Sample reference study of many: "Are Risk Aversion and Impatience Related to Cognitive Ability?" Thomas J. Dohmen, et.a,; 2009
Result: "The main finding is that people with LOWER cognitive ability are significantly more risk averse and significantly more impatient. This is true (while) controlling for personal characteristics, educational attainment, income, and liquidity constraints."
Note - Cognitive ability encompasses the operations and definitions of IQ. Thus, LESS INTELLIGENT people generally are more impatient.
Peter R. Giancola and Amos Zeichner reached the same findings in 1994.
Garrett Jones found the same results in 2011: "Intelligence is associated with patience."
