What is your idea of success? Is it money, happiness, family, religious stature, or something else?

There are so many stories about rich people regretting their decisions because it meant neglecting those close to them to gain material wealth, yet monetary success seems to be what many consider the definition of success. Shouldn't success be measured by contentment?

The definition of success clearly says what it is all about. But for me success is something which is closely connected with the heart. Even if a little thing provides comfort and satisfaction that's a form of success, yes, in your words contentment... If you are cautious enough those little things will add up to give you a huge success. The life is all about achieving success every now and then.... Such attempts of getting success makes a person pious enough to be good in the eyes of the Creator and the human alike. And that ultimately ensures the eternal success in the Hereafter too.

Achieving a goal. Simple enough. Much can be shared with that.

I would say contentment. If you can find a place in your life where you're just content and not left wanting or wishing for anything else or anything more, that to me is my idea of success.

Success is reaching any goal you strived for and consider a priority in life. In essence one has to compartmentalize aspects of their life.
It's possible to be successful in business but a failure as a spouse or parent. Very few if any people pass with flying colors on all fronts.
Therefore success often comes down to how people (feel) about themselves. Some days you feel better than other days.
Oftentimes we determine success by comparing ourselves to others.
"Don't let success go to your head and don't let failure go to your heart." -  Former NBA Coach Phil Jackson
Success and failure are (results) and not (people).
No one gets everything they want but if one appreciates what they have then that's success in my opinion.
Success is having a true appreciation of your life!

What do you think? We do not have to be rich to know the sad stories of some of the rich; we do not have to be spiritual to know that many have died for the Christ, And built monuments in his honour. There are millions of followers and many churches. Same with Temples and and stupors and mosques ...

So it would appear even if not to you and me, but to millions, that this Beings or children of God did something right.

In that sence those great Souls were more successful than the rich. Why do I want money? To be happy. Why do I want to be happy? What's in it for me. A peaceful life. Then is this what the Saviours taught? Seems like it.

    "Victory means temporary peace.
But Peace id eternity's victory." - Sri Chinmoy.

Both success and failure are necessary imposters in the scheme of things. My goal is progress, for every day to find me, a better human being than I was the day before. Moore loving, caring, serving ...

I bid you not riches, but an abundance of inner opulence; of inner Peace. Much Love.

"What is success? I think it is a mixture of having a flair for the thing that you are doing; knowing that it is not enough, that you have got to have hard work and a certain sense of purpose."
    Margaret Thatcher
