   What are the ways that religion is a superstitious relic of a bygone era which is entirely

   There are two ways of seeing religion as a phenomenon in human belief system. One is objective and another is purely subjective. To evaluate its objective side, we would have to look through the history and include present times, with an intention to find the objective usefulness of it. Sorry religious folks, but the results of that evaluation don't really speak in favor of your beliefs.
   
   Not because "I say so", but because you, yourself will have a hell of a problem connecting dots between Crusade wars, Spanish  Inquisition, burning red-haired "witches" at stake, fascism  -  not to rub it in with so many examples of church goers not really following the "Word" with those commandments.
   
   If you want to be intellectually pampered by asserting how all morality originates from religion  -  be my guest, you have a right to your opinion. And, since I recognize your right, I am recognizing my own as well, so I will say how one has nothing to do with the other. My first argument is nicely presented in my first paragraph, clearly showing that there could not be a darn trace of morality in any of those examples of bestial killings, not to mention those torture chambers of Spanish Inquisition.
   
   Then my other argument has a lot to do with the inherent nature of us humans, which contains this default program of self-preservation and preservation of our fellow-humans whom we need for our own survival. In that same gene there is motherly instinct, and ability to empathize, namely to "imagine how we would feel in another person's skin" in relation to an unfavorable event or condition.
   Indeed, it might as well be our animalistic legacy, resembling a pack of wolves protecting one another. Whatever it may be in the deeper analysis, neither animals nor little kids need the "Word" to intuitively sense moral values.
   
   So much for the objective side of religion.
   In subjective sense, it's another story. No one has a right to deny to others what they want to believe in. Religion may be the most priceless part of someone's intimate life, and it is all nice and good for as long as they don't start being normative about it and impose it onto others. I don't have enough words to express my disagreement with anyone who feels called upon to tell others what they "should" think, feel, and believe.
   
   As for the bottom line, it's O.K. to admire some aspect of beliefs in ancient times, if that's our cup of tea. Archaeologists do.

      From your perspective that makes sense,  but I must remind you there is far more to the bible and being religious as you say.
      The bible and the message in it is a treasure of importance to humans, it was catalog into books from scrolls and artifacts

      K&T: Like I said, it is "precious" to some folks, and it's O.K. with me. The state of the world is the indicator of its effectiveness. A big message should result with something different after being followed for 2 millennia.

      V, the state of the world is based on humans choices made without God’s interference.
      He has allowed humans to do as they please, now we see the results and blame God. no ! Humans created this state of problems and vote in their own rulers.

      K&T: Missed the point? It takes only about a decade to become a doctor. Why bother still reading ANY holy book if two millennia has not been enough to learn their message - LOVE. God is not to blame, and people are not equipped in head to get it.

   Mathew 24:29 - “Immediately after the distress of those days “‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’
   TWO very impossible things stick out from this one passage in the bible:
   1. The stars cannot fall from the sky - the person writing this (presumably inspired by god himself) obviously does not know what a star actually is, and meteorites fall into our atmosphere from time to time, NOT stars.
   2. The moon does NOT have its own light. It's a rock basically, and the light we see from the moon is reflected light from our own star, the sun.
   As far as stating that the sun will be "darkened", that pretty much happens for any number of reasons - eclipses, clouds passing in front of our view of the sun, perhaps even the eventual burn out of the sun - but no humans will live long enough to see that.
   But just from this ONE passage in the bible (and there are hundreds of such passages), we can see that the authors of the books of the bible were NOT gods, nor were they informed or inspired by gods.
   There is very little guidance remaining in the Christian bible that pertains to our 21st century.
   The morality of the bible is discounted - it is immoral to own slaves, stone sinners, and beat children, among other things.
   The science of the bible doesn't even exist - turning water into wine is nothing more than a parlor trick.
   The historical evidence of the bible is obscure and most of it does not exist any longer.
   The "message" of love from the bible is completely distorted.
   "Family values" inspired by the bible are non-existent - see the Duggar family and the total disregard for marriage vows among Christians. Plus they harm their children over and over with excuses of "demons", "faith healing", and underage forcible rape by men, including pedophilia and incest.
   The message of "life after death" is nothing more than a story brought forward to comfort grieving people after someone dies.
   The bible is a useless book of superstitions, myths, and wars against alleged "enemies" of god. Why would anyone be an enemy of god? It doesn't even make sense.
   I have my doubts about there being ANYTHING of value to today's society in the bible. It's all pretty much rubbish.
   But humans do seem to get a lot of entertainment value out of it.
