That's the way it has been with my family too Lisa. Even my grandkids, school/work.
Different cultures tolerate different behavior. Immigrant families are much more likely to tolerate behavior Americans wouldn't. American parents seem to suffer little with the thought of pitting their children to wolves.
Immigrant families? My grandparents were immigrants. Everybody works, or contributes to the family by going to school. I was told going to school was my job when I was a kid. There was no leeway or refusing if I wanted to live at home.
Looking for work and actually trying to find work are 2 different things. That's pretty simple.
