This is because Venus was bombarded by another object several million years ago, forcing it to orbit retrograde (backwards).

Venus rotates in a slow clockwise direction from east to west because, most likely, while forming, it collided with another large object. That's the most popular theory at the moment.
That isn't true . Uranus also spins the opposite of the other planets.
