Where is the equals (=) sign? Are the operators in the parenthetical expressions multiplication signs? It is probably simple, but I am not even going to think about a poorly worded question.

And, as MickS said, open up a textbook, read, and do your homework.

Take (a b) as common, your equation now is;

(a b) (x y - y z)

Now take "y" as common, your left with;

(a b) ( y ) ( x - z ) Answer

If you were given the equation below to solve;

Its only a matter of reverse operation e.g.

a b ( x y - y z )

= (a b) x (x y) - (a b) x (y z)

= (a b) (x y) - (a b) (y z) Answer
