   I have always had trouble understanding that story given that better than half the world's land mass hadn't been discovered at the time how did anyone know the whole world had been flooded ?
   
   And No I won't accept some religious nut  saying 'Cos God said so... so please try and be a little more logical and hopefully realistic if you reply.

   This is a good question. If there is evidence that this location is where the ark may have fallen apart or sunk after it was no longer used by Noah and his family, then with the technology that we have, it is possible the ark may be found.

   Given the hot climate in and around the place Noah so say built the Ark.....and he put all the animals of the world in 2 by 2,does anyone know where he would have found Polar bears and penquins in that part of the world ? a load of bunkem if you ask me..sorry !!

   Thirty (30) years ago, late Apollo astronaut and moonwalker James Irwin took many expeditions into Turkey in the 1980s to find artifacts or other remains of Noah"s Ark and recorded all his data (I read one of the books, may still have it). On top of Mt. Ararat, a huge rectangular wooden sea vessel was found buried in the ice. During springs when the ice thaws more than in other years, more of the wood emerges. Carbon testing for age, if correct, places the age of the vessel at the time we suppose for the Great Flood. The wood is consistent with wood found in Middle Eastern countries. However, searches in the 2000s have focused on some other anomaly (may be a shadow), without completing the investigation of the wooden vessel.
   
   Astronaut Irwin's widow Mary keeps and has leant out data and photos for reports and presentations on Noah's Ark and Mt. Ararat as its landing site. Attorney Porcher Taylor, III has written extensively on this as well. 
   
   James Irwin was convinced the vessel he found is the ark. More investigation is needed in future.
   
   As for animals, insects, birds, fish  - we discover new species every day. Who's to say they are not being created or emerging in this very decade? Polar bears need not have existed in Noah's time, as mammoths and dinosaurs do not exist now - except crocodiles and small lizards that look like dinos. Maybe they got small.

    In the 1950s, a joint military expedition by the Turks and Chinese found a wooden structure on the mountain. A Turkish officer went inside the structure and retrieved some stuff. It's also been said that villages near the mountain have ancient pottery which villagers say tumbled down the mountain.
    My own belief is that God will reveal prophecies, including the Ark, when the time is right. Slowly, as each one is uncovered, agnostics will begin to realize that the Bible isn't bunk after all.

    Ararat (the movie) alludes to the Ark that is off limits to explore.
    
    BTW: Polar bears are the north pole and penguins are on the south pole.
    
    There may have been penguins at one time on the north pole - but the bears already ate those tasty treats a long time ago.

    no - it's a HOAX  - the only wooden 'boat parts' that were actually dated went back to the 7th c CE, and it turned out that piece of wood had been carried there by a villager
    
    there's some speculation that local monks built wooden structures on the mtn in the 4-7th c CE to lure gullible tourists.
    
    the numerous other reports have failed to actually produce evidence for their claims.

    No because the Ark is on Mt. Arrarat which is in desert country
    in-land, no where near the snow or ice caps.  You need to read your Bible.

    Regardless if anyone proves a Noah's Ark, a model sits in Kentucky and Holland. Following measurements found in the Old Testament, the Ark is only a part of a complex featuring other Biblical scenes. read more

    On Unsolved Mysteries a few years back, they showed a program on this topic. In 1911 when the ice thawed enough, Some villagers went up Mt. Ararat, and entered a massive boat like structure that they believed to be Noah's Ark. That was now over a hundred years ago, so why not repeat history again today. This is really a very interesting topic to me. Hope to hear more about it.
