What is the best way to learn Spanish? Should I purchase Rosetta Stone or is there something...

free online to do? Is there a website were I can chat live with a Spanish speaker or do something interact such as that. I think it's important to communicate with other people as part of the learning process, but I'm not sure something like Rosetta Stone would be able to pull that off. If you have any ideas please let me know.
