   If wind slams the door in a hallway and no people are there to hear it, would there be a sound?
   
   If no one is there to hear it, can you define that as a sound?

   It depends on how one defines the word "sound".  If it is defined as sensation derived from the translation made by the brain of the air pressure waves created by the slamming door then the answer is maybe.  While there may not be people around, there might be other creatures around that can translate air pressure waves.  If one defines sound as merely the differential air pressure waves caused by the door slamming, then yes, there would be sound.

   Yes, a sound does not have to be heard to qualify it as a sound.
   We should not assume that a sound is not a sound just because no one hears it.  Some things must be accepted by faith. 
   If you left a cup in a cabinet one day and the next day it was gone, you would think someone moved it somewhere else, even though you didn't see someone move it.

   This is same as the old 'If a tree crashed down in a forest and there was no one or no creature to hear it, would it make a sound?'   The answer is 'No.'   The sound comes when the vibration hits an ear-drum and the electrical impulses from there reach and are interpreted by the brain.   
   
   It would, however, create a vibration.

   Interesting question. Yes I guess you could define it as a sound. The sound ...."process".....might not be complete I suppose, without the proper receptor, but the opportunity was still there. This type of question seems intended to produce one train of thought, but it seems to be dangerously inducing another beneathe the surface; "if we remove ourselves from the variable, can we avoid responsibility?" If I stop looking at the light, is it still there? If I don't touch the pot, is it still hot? If I ignore the problem, does it go away? It will always make a sound, that is the way you must see it. wow it's late!

   minus the science and based purely on my idea, my answer would be yes..I can even hear its sound as I finished reading this question. ^_^ I think it same goes with your heart, a lot of times we were busy with our routine that we failed to recognize its sound, but that doesn't mean it has stopped beating..
