Zodiac Sign the Capricorn
Zodiac Sign Capricorn (Dec. 22 - Jan. 19)
I am a Capricorn, born under the tenth astrological sign of the zodiac. The Capricorn is a goat (not a spider by another member name known as Sandyspider). While there are cool looking Zodiac signs, I never thought of being the goat as one of them. The symbol for Capricorn varies from a mystical goat of the sea or heaven.
Originating from the constellation of Capricornus and shown in the stars as a goat with a fish tail. The myth of the sea goat: The monster Typhon attacked Pan the goat god. Pan dove into the Nile. What was exposed above the water remained as a goat and the part below turned into a fish tail. The sea goat image goes by to Babylonian times. This is the symbol that is most recognized as the Zodiac sign.
Updated version of Capricorn is the mountain goat. Slowly, yet steadily climbing the mountain. I believe I am climbing this mountain everyday, never reaching the top. You will see the more modern goat with a fish tail.
It is unknown where the terrestrial goat originated. If I had to choose, I would rather fly.

- Independent, ambitious, goal setter Likes to take the lead and see to details herself:
I have always been independent and can work as a team player, though I prefer to work by myself. I am ambitious and striving for new goals.
- Outside exterior is calm, composed, and has a good nature:
I have a good nature, though some people may argue about the calm and compose part. But they provoke it!
- Good organizational skills, neat and tidy:
This is true in my work and planning the family vacation.Organization and tidiness around the house is debatable.
- Strong work ethic and respect authority.
Can be too strong to where people will take advantage of you. Speaking from experience.
- Excessive perfectionism:
- Fears ridicule or being laughed at.
I KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
- Sympathetic and helpful to friends in need.
- Known to be creative and have an analytical brain.
Examples for me would be previous employment in the engineering field, a must for analytical brains like mine. Shops on Zazzle and 3DRose under Sandy Mertens (3/4s down each product page). - Known to be good with money and make wise investments.
Most of the time. Feel sick with the stock market. Rather play it safe.
- Has a conventional look that is elegant and modest.
Not sure, about the elegant part for me. I am into baggy and comfortable clothes. Even at my thinnest, I wore clothes that were not fitting. An exception would be special events and the time I had lost weight and my family bought me fitting clothes and low cut tops. I felt exposed.

Is Sandyspider Creative?
Let Me Know! I am Trying to Figure That Out
Getting towards the end of high school, we have to decide what direction we will go to make a living at for the rest of our lives. I had it narrowed down to Architect, teacher, writer or psychologist.
After taking a psychology course, I thought it would be fascinating to be a psychologist. The human mind has always fascinated me and people were continuously confiding in me with their problems.
As a teacher, I would have the feeling of accomplishment. Teaching children to become successful adults and running a classroom would be fun.
Having a love for reading and writing, the thought of becoming a writer appealed to me. However, the thought of becoming the struggling writer was not appealing.
Then there was architecture. This is a form of art and I have always had the love of art. It is in my blood. Not sure about my mother's side of the family, but on my father's side is an aunt and cousins who are talented in this area. I did win $10 for a dog drawing when I was a pre-teen. Though never thought I had what it takes. After taking an architecture class in high school, this was the art that I could do and make money. Read more about it on My Love of Architecture

I consider myself as creative. I designed some of my own clothes. I wrote parodies that would have made Weird Al and writers on Saturday Night Live proud. My Russian history notes were all over the school. The students asked for them because I was the only one awake in the class. When I shared these notes, students discovered that I had the names of teachers where the real names belong. They thought it was funny and copies were made. Yet I ended up with a good grade from the class.

Accounts on HubPages
It may seem confusing to some people when they see reference to Sandyspider in my SandyMertens account articles here.
First the name Sandyspider began in the (former Squidoo account) in 2008. Then in 2009, I started an account here on HubPages with the Sandyspider name.
When the accounts from Squidoo were transferred to HubPages we had to have a new account for each one we had on Squidoo. None of these unfortunately could be transferred to our accounts already made on HubPages.
Since I had already had an account under the same name, I had to create a different one. Which is SandyMertens on HubPages and then I had deleted all but one other account on Squidoo which needed a new account here. Now there are three accounts on HubPages. Here they are:
