Cheap Solar Panels Sale

Updated on March 5, 2013

Are Cheap Solar Panels Good Value?

These days there are many attractive deals on solar panels. But does cheap necessarily mean good value? Saving a few dollars at the outset can cost you plenty more later on if you end up buying low quality panels.

There are two main types of photovoltaic panel, which are monocrystalline and polycrystalline. Because of the construction process, monocrystalline panels are a little cheaper to produce which is reflected in slightly lower prices, although both types produce similar amounts of power.

The country of manufacture also has a bearing on the final cost to the customer, with foreign imports being cheaper than home grown panels. When buying solar panels online, it is important to understand that while quality checks are generally stringent for most manufacturers wherever they are in the world, there may be some sellers that sell low quality or even knock off panels very cheaply.

To be safe, it is a good idea to only buy from well known and respected online stores such as Amazon. There are some good bargains to be had from eBay, although you should do due diligence before purchasing from unknown sellers.

Why Solar Energy is the Future

For areas that get a lot of natural sunlight for most of the year, it makes total sense to install solar panels to harvest all that free power.

Many power companies have the facility for allowing households to plug their solar installations into the grid. This means they can use what they need from their own solar system during the day, while any surplus is then sold to the power company. Then during the hours of darkness, the household switches over to using grid power.

This means households can benefit from solar energy without needing to store it in batteries as some off grid households need to. Of course, living totally off grid means managing your solar installation yourself, but this is something that most people who choose to live off grid are happy to do.

However, the real benefit to using solar energy is to the environment. This is because once a solar system has been installed and paid for, there is no further cost to the user or to the environment in terms of no pollution being created in the generation of that power, no noise and no needing to use valuable fossil fuels.

It makes for a very bright, friendly and sensible future for our children and future generations to come.
