Conceptual Art Creation Ideas

Updated on April 13, 2011

What Is Concept Art?

Concept art is the ideas visually presented to anyone in the form of drawings, paintings, quick sketches, sculptures, thumbnails, and any type of art that defines the purpose or attempts to explain the meaning.

Visual art is the collection of art sketches of previous drawings and ideas that make up a finished piece of art.

A concept is one idea with several others attached to help make that single idea work.

Drawings and sketches start off first to draft the idea and flesh it out, from there the single ideas become splintered into many others and initial concepts become changed from what they were intended, this is the progressional nature of concept art at it's creative best.

Ways Of Effectively Realising Concepts In Art

To effectively realise concepts in art you need to be aware of the creative process behind anything you can think of, to brainstorm words and associated phrases and relating them to physical drawings is the standard method to creating concept art.

Concepts come and go in the minds of any creative person, and it is these vital moments that we capture an idea worth writing down in the form of notes or small thumbnail sketches. Conceptual ideas that are descriptive help to embed the best ideas and get them up on the drawing board quickly.

By combining a brainstorm list of associated words, with tiny rough sketches and even full on concept designs are the best course of action for the concept artist, because adding visual cues is what this medium of idea collaboration needs for all concerned to bring in their own input and ideas to collectively build on a first idea.

A lot of conception can be created from audio sounds and music with which to help the creative ideas flow, someone talking could be the ideal voice of reason with the right tone to take new and old ideas and push them in a far reaching direction for the producers of the main attraction or product.

I'm a great believer in finding ideas that are based on the most basic tried and tested formulas that seem to work repeatedly and writing notes based on equally balanced strength of each method of building up a top piece of art.

Conceptual art is much more than presenting ideas it is a way of providing the correct visuals with a focus to create something unique and that will push all the best ideas at the front and get rid of the not so good ones and archive the bad ones away to be re-worked on another day.

Concept Art Is Just Displaying An Idea

Is Concept art the same as a collage? I’ve been doing that for some time. I print pictures, cut out images paste them onto another group or single image, and with a background I scan the whole group again. Then with my digital tablet I fill in a concept I wanted to create to match my post. Am I making sense? Your post that I linked with mine is an eye-opener.

      Thanks immensely. Regards: J Gehen
