Canvas drop cloth is affordable, versatile and very easy to work with. Create a simple bedskirt to custom fit an extra long dorm bed simply by folding and pinning the cloth OR using hem tape if needed to finish a seam.

This no-sew diy bedskirt is made by first placing a piece of canvas drop cloth between the mattress and box spring, allowing the ends to hang free. Fold and tuck or pin the canvas until you are satisfied with the result. (Find more ideas decorating with canvas here.)

      Some really great ideas here for inexpensive, yet practical dorm decor. Really like the bulletin board lampshade idea. I lived (many, many moons ago) in a dorm for two years and wouldn't have missed the experience for anything. You've brought back some great memories just by mentioning DORM. :)

      This is an awesome lens! It had already caught my eye just by its intro picture. I really like the lamp where you can put picture or important mail or notes etc. :) Wonderful lens! I like. I like.

      I like the bed riser idea - a bed covers a lot of area. Getting all the stuff out of the way is critical. Of course, you can do like I did and just cover it with a big, peaceful piece of fabric. Gets rid of a lot of the clutter look! Blessed!

      I think the bed risers are a fabulous idea. The more you can store under the bed, the better off you will be, leaving room for other stuff in the room.

      You have done it again and have provide doable DIYs that anyone can do to cover those dorm room challenges, I especially like your cork board lamp shade, now that's using every inch available in cramped corders and your bucket stools will provide a nice storage are for those odd items that would otherwise be clutter.
