Flag Worksheets

Updated on October 10, 2014

Use Flag Worksheets to Teach About History

Each country in the world and each state in the United States has its own flag. Use flag worksheets to introduce students to new countries and to educate them about our 50 states.

Use flags during social studies lessons to teach about specific countries making the country more accessible using flag worksheets.

Flags are fun symbols of countries that can help kids learn so many things:

- Shapes on flags

- Colors on flags

- History and information about countries and the 50 U.S. states

- Parts of flags

Flag Worksheets for Preschoolers

Coloring Pages, Crafts, and Worksheets

For young children, coloring is fun and it can be educational too. Use flag coloring pages to explain the flag information on the coloring page. Then provide a little information to make coloring fun, such as telling them that the biggest area on the flag is a certain color. Let them choose the right crayon then they can color that part of the flag coloring page.

Provide more information about the flag so they can finish coloring the entire picture.

Some coloring pages or flag worksheets have letters that children can trace to practice writing letters of the alphabet. Be sure to use all of the learning opportunities on each worksheet.

Flag Worksheets for Older Children

School-age students will be able to handle more challenging flag worksheets. Make the lessons about history fun with some flag worksheets that can be incorporated in other lessons, such as using the Flag Day acrostic poem worksheet in Language Arts class.

Study the history of flags, and then let students sew their own flag.
