How will the Gulf oil spill affect imported foods and gasoline prices?
Gas prices here went up 10 to 15 cents per gallon already, yesterday.
All food and gasoline will increase in price as usual. But the cost of what we eat and how much we drive or use oil is really not the most devastating situation affecting us when thinking about that oil spill disaster! Check out my HUB and discover what one of the most scary issues caused by the oil spill really is. Go to: http://hubpages.com/hub/ImportanceOfPlankton
Sadly, the short term price of gasoline will go up, but many more important factors, such as the rate of growth in china , and whether we will see continued economic recovery in this country, and europe will drive these prices long term. The deep water drilling moratorium has some up in arms, but if you can live with perhaps 20,000 workers unemployed, deep water drilling accounts for less than 5 days of oil usage in the U.S. in a years time. And NPR told me something that I didn't know yesterday which is that Canada is now our largest oil trading partner, and as bad as the Gulf Oil spill is the Canada Tar Sands are also an enviromental nightmare.
