Do you believe in Extraterrestrial Life?

Do you believe in ET life? How about the various UFO and Abduction Phenomenon?

Yes, I believe there is other life in the Universe. But I don't believe abductions are real. Most could be explained in other ways. Sort of like the way a reflection of a lamp could be mistaken for a UFO.

Of course there are "aliens." To think that we are alone in this universe is a little cocky.

Yes there are. I've seen it (UFO) once when i was a child. The only person with me was my twin sister. It was ten years later when we discussed about it again. Even though it may seem like i'm making a joke, i am not..

Bearing in mind there are not only countless trllions of stars around which circle trillions of planets, we still have billions of dimensions which the human senses cannot detect.   Our sense of sight covers an extremely narrow spectrum, yet some of us have this crazy notion that "if we can't see it, feel it or hear it " it can't be real - this despite radio!

Why would something as infinite as Nature, or the All Mighty -whatever you believe - focus on and only create (or evolve) living species on the third planet out from a very average-to-middling star (our sun) in just one of the myriad gallaxies we can see?  What's make us so special?

It has been hypothetized that the reason other beings from other worlds don't make contact with us in a meaningful way is because humans can't be trusted.  We haven't grown up yet.

Oh, and If you think we have, then I suggest you just turn on the evening news tonight to get an idea of how we're still treating one another.   How, then would we treat what we regarded as an alien species?

Great answers everyone. I personally believe that it is impossible not to consider the possibility of life, considering the vast number of stars.

My guess is that micro-organisms may be quite common, even possibly within in our Solar System - anywhere that water exists in some form or other. The basic building blocks of life seem likely to be reasonably common. And if a planet becomes habitable in this way, life gains a foothold fairly quickly, judging by the example of our own planet.

Intelligent life is a very different proposition. I don't believe there is any intelligence elsewhere in our Galaxy, for reasons I may try to explain in a future hub; basically I suspect any intelligent species is likely to colonise the entire Galaxy within a few million years - a tiny fragment of time in the history of the universe. If any intelligent species had evolved before us, they would probably be here by now. They are not (I believe) so I think we are the first.

yes, I do. There are many reasons why I believe.
    I had been a skeptic as a child then I saw a ufo when I was 6
years old. a person just know what is and, what isn't.

Not really. As a fan of sci-fi, I enjoy the ideas, but deep down I think we're alone.
The question is: Why all those stars out there if there's no other life? Psalm 50:6 and 97:6 give the reasons for all those stars.

50:6- The heavens declare His righteousness
97:6- The heavens declare the glory of God

Well if the space is as big as the scientists say it is.It does not make any sense that we are the only species to exist.I believe there are other forms of life some where out there. We just can't reach them.

There's other sentient life outside our solar system...otherwise, it would be just a lot of empty space. smile

With so many conspiracies out there. It's hard to tell if there is at least some sort of truth to it all. The millions of witnesses who claimed they were abducted, or what about the infamous crop circles? Let's not forget about the grainy UFO videos, which still boggles me to this day considering we're in the digital era with HIGH DEF capable camera devices. Seriously? In all honesty though, our Universe is so vast, I find it hard to "believe" there's nothing out there. In the early centuries, men wrote about "gods" like the ancient Sumerians. Even Egyptians believed in "gods". Were they on to something big? Who knows. We're all entitled to our own beliefs, but I personally believe we're not alone in this naturalistic, and materialistic world.

ET life, definitely. The cosmos are way too big. We have already found potential candidates both inside and outside of our solar system. It's only a matter of time. The abduction craze breaks down to two possibilities in my mind: (1) they are telling the truth, or (2) it's an as yet undiagnosed psychological condition. I am more inclined to believe the former. UFOs are tricky because anyone who has ever worked in secrecy knows that consumer technology (like iPhones) are at least 30 years behind what the government has. It is entirely possible that much of the current UFO sightings have been mistaken experimental aircraft. But, I am also inclined to believe that many UFO accounts are intelligently piloted by ETs.

    I haven't seen any ET's, so I don't know if they exist.

My beliefs on physical matters depend on evidence. I've read the NICAP newsletters of the 60's, I've seen the connections made in ancient literature, and I've seen "Fire in the Sky." Good cases for ET's, but still not solid proof.

Statistically, I'd say it's impossible there is no life on other worlds. Space-faring civilizations are an entirely different matter.
