How do you deal with people who insist they are always right?
Some people talk about others faults and how they are always right. They don't consider the fact that they may be wrong or not tolerant of other opinions. How do you deal with those who are always right in their own minds?
Tell them they are wrong to think like that because in all probability because of our brain's limitations it would be highly improbable...
I simply give up on them. Cut them out of my life so they can't harm me.
There's advice in the Bible on this, in Ezekiel 33. Tell them once, and if they don't listen, you're done with them.
If they are a family member ,boss or next door neighbor that task would be very tough to do... ;-)
Not hard for me at all. My family never earned my love, and I get along better without the few who still survive.
The real danger is politicians. If they get elected, there's no getting out from under them.
Ask them if they are always right. Then ask them some questions they cannon answer. What was my grandmother's middle name? What is my shoe size? Ask them the rainfall total in some obscure place. They will be unable to provide the answers and saying I don't know is not always right. If they say the question is not fair, ask them if they expect life to always be fair. If they say no, then they cannot always be right and if they say yes, they are obviously wrong..
You either avoid them or use humor.
When it's all said and done it really doesn't matter what someone else thinks or says. It's all about whether we choose to internalize it.
Everyone is entitled to have an opinion and most people's ego will never allow them to consider they may not have the best perspective.
It's futile in most instances to expect people to "change their minds".
My husband, without realizing it, fits in this category. I finally decided to make a joke about it when it happens. Now, when he starts expounding, i make it into a joke and say, "Yes, professor." .He thinks he is helping, Anyway, we must find humor in some of these scenarios.
ignore them, my hubby always thinks he is right, so I ignore him. Too arrogant this people
Show them to be undeniably wrong. If they still maintain they are right when anyone else with a brain can see that they arent, they basically dig their own grave from then on and show they cant be taken seriously.
Make sure that they are wrong . Maybe what they are insisting upon is correct. If the argument is about facts then we can easily verify that fact. If it is about a point of view or opinion then they surely have a reason for that point of view . If you can show how that reason is incorrect or flawed they may relent. They may not admit it to you but you may see subtle changes in their behaviour . Ignoring people or making fun of them or cutting them out of your life is not a good response . It might work with people who are not close to us or we don't care about but might backfire with our family, friends or relatives. Many times we do not realise that other persons insistance on something is a response to our insistance .
you feel sorry for them because if they think they know everything then in there mind they have nothing to learn and will never grow as a person. They have reached their ceiling . Be confident enough in yourself that you don't need this person to know your right. you know that's enough!
Don't give in to the social justice warriors - they'll just demand more. And when someone already thinks it is OK to police word choices and challenge facts as "hate", there is no rational debate with them.

How do you deal with people who argue and insist they are right when you know they are wrong? Why do some people argue even if it is obvious they are wrong? I once had someone argue with me that A.D. in dates means "after death" rather than a Latin phrase meaning "in the year of our...
