5 High Paying Part-Time Jobs

Updated on November 15, 2012

High Paying Part-Time Jobs: 5 Opportunities For 2012

Is the economy getting better in the latter half of 2012? For many people, the answer is NO. People are turning to part-time jobs as a method of getting extra income to make ends meet. I'm talking about real jobs, not scams, schemes or bogus get rich ideas.

The problem is if you are already working and earning an average or above average amount of money, what kind of part-time jobs pay enough to make it worth your time?

I put this lens together for some ideas on finding a high paying part-time job opportunity. Most of these jobs can be found in any small-medium or large metro area around the country. Yes, even in depressed communities, you can still find these opportunities. I AM NOT SELLING ANYTHING. When you click on the link you can download the ebook free.

The reason I put this together was to help other people. Part-time work saved me back in 2008, it gave me some breathing room to catch up on bills and get ahead a little.

Not all part time work is low pay. In fact, you can make some respectable money working part time, just like I did. I worked as a sales associate and on average, was earning abot $15 per hour, and even more during the holiday season, just when I needed the money the most.

High Paying Job #1- Sales Associates $12-$30 per hour

In this case, I am referring to sales associates in certain parts of retail businesses. These kind of positions are held, part-time, by respectable people usually earning decent money in their primary job or career. Wages range from $12-$30 per hour or more. Schedules tend to be flexible, and the best time to work for these jobs are after 5pm and weekends. These jobs are often overlooked by most people or thought to be low paying when in fact they are NOT low paying.

Some of these jobs even offer benefits including insurance and investment plans. Other benefits can include merchandise discounts and special buying opportunities. Often you can direct part of your earnings into a 401(K) plan and get matching dollars from the company, even as a part time employee!

Check out my free list of specific companies including links to apply for sales associates in your area click here!

High Paying Job #2- Delivery Services $9-$10 per Hour with Excellent Benefits

Another overlooked, high paying opportunity is delivery companies. One company in particular offers a lower hourly wage, but extremely good benefits including low cost, health insurance, 401(k) with matching plans, college tuition benefits and regular, generous wage increases. Shifts usually start early in the morning around, and end at 8 or 9am.

Often, this might involve some lifting, but there are many people I know that have worked this kind of job for years, simply because of the benefits.

Check out my free list of specific companies including links to apply for delivery services in your area click here!

High Paying Job #3- Medical Studies & Donation $15-$20 Per Hour

Most of these opportunities are not highly advertised and draw professionals, blue-collar workers, housewives, older folks and students.

A larger, national company routinely offers pay for physical donation that amounts to $20-$30 per hour! Other benefits of physical studies and donation include free physicals and other perks.

Check out my free list of specific companies including links to apply for medical studies and donation in your area click here!

High Paying Job #4- After Hours Floor Cleaning $15-$18 Per Hour

If you can handle working after hours, there is a BIG need for people to clean floors at retail stores, medical facilities and some offices. This job is not all that difficult, and in the world of cleaning jobs, pays fairly well. Normally the job involves dust mopping, sweeping, using a scrubber and buffer to shine up the floor. There is an added twist to this job, which I explain in my free list, that allows you to make even more money.

This kind of job works well if you don't want a lot of human interaction, and the time goes by very fast. Many small and large service companies in your area are looking for people to do floor cleaning. You could be one of them too.

Check out my free list of specific companies including links to apply for floor cleaning jobs in your area click here!

High Paying Job #5- Tipped Jobs $10-$30 per hour

Tipped jobs are an excellent part-time opportunity if you know which offer the best pay. It is also helpful to know which of these tipped positions pay the best, and which to avoid.

This kind of job requires people-skills and some physical activity including lifting, walking and moving table to table. Tipped jobs might also include delivery such as pizza or carry out.

Check out my free list of specific companies including links to apply for the right kind of tipped jobs in your area click here!

Our Recommendation On Further Reading About Part-Time Jobs

There are many approaches you can take to land a part-time job that not only pays well, but is actually work you can enjoy doing. Right now, the more creative you can be in you effort, the better, Lynn Berger wrote a book that will give you the edge over other part-time job seekers in the market right now, on of her tips is hardly used but extremely effective. There are extra money jobs out there, you just have to know how to go about getting them.

Click the link below to read the first chapter of the book online now:

The Savvy Part-Time Professional: How to Land, Create, or Negotiate the Part-time Job of Your Dreams (Capital Ideas for Business & Personal Development)

Some Part Time Jobs To AVOID If You Can Help It

Day-Labor- Usually very low pay, very hard work.

Production Work- Because they hire part-time workers for the worst jobs in the plant.

Telemarketing-Although there are some good opportunities, most offer low hourly wages and tough products or services to sell with unattainable sales goals for most people.

Pizza Delivery- Margins are getting lower for pizza companies, and college students and low-income families do not tip very well.

Most cashier jobs- Low pay, boring work.

Check out my free list of high paying part time jobs in your area click here!

A Job Alternative- Starting Your Own Low-Risk Business

Staple Business Ideas That Are Always Needed

Another way to get extra money is to start your own low-risk business. I emphasize "low-risk" because if you are low on money, you don't want to get involved in some kind of high risk opportunity that might fail from the get-go. This means you should look into staple businesses that are proven to work. (3) that come to mind are:

Home services- If you have skills that others are willing to pay for, you have an instant business just waiting to happen. People, even in this economy, still need things cleaned, repaired and serviced.

Buying and selling- Find things people don't want and sell them at your own garage sale, flea market or ebay.

Direct sales- I recommend any legitimate companies that have quality products. If you are looking for extra money, selling something everyone can use, visit Sell Emergency Roadside Services

I would say that these part time jobs is significant to those who are so-called jack of all trades. But if you are a professional in one specific job, then I don't think you can shift from one job to the other. Great article anyway!

That is so not true about Sales Associates. Most industries pay you minium wage and the rest you have to earn in commissions (most sale associate jobs work this way but they are exceptions) and a lot of the time you will not even be able to make your sales goal. And being a waiter is even worse you don't get paid minum wage you get paid less and hope you make the rest up in tips. (And yes it is legal)

Also wanted to share what I'm doing right now--it's managing the text campaigns of local businesses (yes, I'm getting paid to text. But that's a way cooler job than pizza delivery.. ;P ). It actually pays really well and you can pretty much set your own hours. It's really nice for students or for anyone, really, since it's quite a substantial amount of money. I know there's lots of scams out there so I started a blog about it, to give people more info on it and help them find real opportunity: http://getpaidtotext.net or http://smsjobs.org

People - lets not be deceived - there is something wrong with the phrase "high paying job # x" and having the range be $15-$18 an hour. If someone works that full time that is $30k-$36k respectively. Don't let the propaganda get to you - become an entreprenuer

I'm shocked you didn't mention any professional or technical part time work! Usually for less than 30 days and $200 most people can get a special license or certification in a field that interests them that could increase their income by $4,000 a month PART TIME! Whether it is for web design, sales, marketing, consulting or insurance - you can set your own hours and your own rates by specializing. I help protect families with Mortgage Protection Insurance, work 2 weekends a month and can make $5k to $10k a month! I had to get a life insurance license, but now I never have to wait tables or sell used cars.... http://www.uniqueunderwriters.com
