KITS FOR KIDS - Free Educational Tools for the Home schooling Parent.

Updated on December 3, 2010

Any parent or guardian that has embarked on the home schooling journey will tell you that every teaching resource (no matter how large or small) is a welcome commodity in this day and age.

Whether those resources come in the form of online or printed material; availing themselves to these helpful tools are vital to ensuring their child or children receive the best home school education possible.

In this economy however, getting your hands on the needed home schooling tools can get pretty pricey.

It’s no wonder then, that parents search high and low for educational tools that are both inexpensive and high quality. For those who have an extremely limited budget, free is an even better or single option.

Fortunately, there is no greater place to look for free, high quality educational tools then your local library.

In addition to the plethora of books, Cd's and educational DVDs, most - if not all -local libraries provide home schooling educators with another valuable educational tool for their schooling success.

Kits for Kids.

Appropriately called, Kits for Kids , these educational boxed kits are not only provided free of charge; they are filled with a variety of books (many of them award-winning) and a variety of printed material to help both the parent and the homeschooler either gain enrichment in specific courses, or simply place them on the right tract on the terms of an effective home schooling curriculum - Think of these kits as subjects in a box.

While the old adage goes, “You get what you pay for," this saying does not apply to the quality of these awesome educational tools. Having used them myself; I found the materials to be in good shape, high in quality, well organized and conducive to the subject I was teaching at that given time.

You can find a kit for just about any subject matter. For instance, if your preschooler needs to learn about shapes, there is a kit for that. If they need to learn about colors, there is a kit for that as well.

Whether your teaching about animals; counting; math; science; or community leaders/service; there is a variety of kits available on a variety of subjects. Simply look for the subject you need.

Kits for Kids are available for most ages beginning with preschoolers to high school students and can usually be found in the age-appropriate book section for said home schooling student. Special care should be taken when borrowing this educational tool.

While rules and restrictions may differ at various library locations, the kits are usually on loan for a three week period and there are separate fines for 1.) Storage box replacement, 2.) Book replacements, 3.) Overdue fee/per day, 4.) Mailed reminder fees, 5.) Accrued notice fees, and 6.) Lost Kits.

Funded by the Library Services and Construction Act 1995 ; the Kits for Kids is a great educational tool home schooling parents can avail themselves to free of charge. Why not check with your local library today and see if such free kits are available to you and your homeschooler?
