My SUNY Delhi College Experience

Updated on September 24, 2014

The SUNY Delhi Experience

I was a Hotel & Resort Management student at Delhi from Fall '07 until December '10. In that time I received both my Associate's and Bachelor's degrees. I took up to 21 credits at a time, both in the classroom and online, and was able to graduate a semester (and $8000) early! I lived in a dorm the entire time, 3 different ones to be specific.

Overall I'd say I have a bit of experience when it comes to this school, and I hope to help anyone looking for information.

Feel free to ask me any questions that you can think of!

Hospitality Department

Where I spent my years at Delhi.

I was a Hospitality major when I attended Delhi, and I have to say, I really love the Hospitality Department. It's a really great group of people who love what they do, and love to share their experience in the field with their students.

Part of the requirements for a Hospitality degree is taking a banquet course. This is a class in which the students actually host banquets for various organizations. The class is broken into teams, and they take turns working front of the house (setting up the room, serving the food, tending to the guests) and back of the house (cooking the food.) It's an awesome learning experience, and a lot of fun!

One of the banquets that is held every year is the Zraly Dinner, in honor of Kevin Zraly (wine educator and founder of the Windows of the World Wine School.) Below are some photos of the dinner that was held in 2009.

Fundraisers are a big hit.

The students in the banquet class made hundreds of Valentine's Day Cookies from scratch, then decorated and packaged them. The cookies were then sold and the profits were donated to a local group.
