Dinosaurs may be extinct from the face of the planet, but they are alive and well in our imaginations.

— STEVE MILLER, Freaks!

Era's of Life

Sometimes, when Dinosaurs are talked about, we refer to the time periods in which they lived. You will no doubt have heard of three of these, the Cretaceous Period, the Jurassic Period and the Triassic Period. Yet these periods don't really reference time periods for dinosaurs, at least not as originally intended - they were actually names given to time-periods by geologists to identify when different types of strata such as chalk and limestone were laid down.

If we measured success by longevity, then dinosaurs must rank as the number one success story in the history of land life.

Did birds evolve from dinosaurs?

There still remains a great deal of debate regarding the development of birds and whether or not they came from dinosaurs. Evidence is slowly being gathered that shows shared features in dinosaur fossils such as hollow bones, fossils of feathers and hips that would allow upright walking.
