Supplies for Grade School

Updated on October 27, 2014

Back to School Supplies

Choosing new school supplies can help young students to get excited about the start of the new school year. There is a wide variety of products available for students and helping them to choose the right one for them can help make the start to the new year special.

In this photo my granddaughters are starting their first day of kindergarten and second grade. When we arrived at their house a few days before the start of school they were so excited to show me their new backpacks. The day before school started the youngest wanted to wear her backpack around the house. It was great to see their excitement!

This lens will show some of the types of supplies that my granddaughters would choose.

Pink BackPacks for Girls - back packs for school

Rachel, my 2nd grader granddaughter, chose a pretty pink backpack for school this year. She loves pink and purple and all things girly. Ella is more sports minded and loves what she calls "boy toys". She chose a blue camouflage print backpack.

Transformers Lunch Box and Pencil Case

Ella loves Transformers. This lunch box and pencil case would be on her wish list.

Hello Kitty School Box - great for school

Rachel loves the Hello Kitty items. This would be a great school box for her.

School Supplies for Grade School

Here are some of the other items that were on my granddaughters list for school supplies. It seems to me that kids today bring a lot more of their supplies to school than when my kids were young. They each had lists of 10-12 items that they needed to bring.

Crayola Broad Point Washable Markers (58-7808)
Crayola Broad Point Washable Markers (58-7808)

Ella had washable markers on her list.

Hello Kitty School Supplies

Rachel would love this packet of Hello Kitty supplies.

Star Wars School Supplies

This kit would be one that Ella would enjoy.

My favorite school supplies when I was young were the colored pencils. I loved to write in color with the choice of colored pencil to match my mood or topic. Hmmm... must try that now as an adult for a bit of fun!

Ah, yes! I remember the ever important list of school supplies, but the fun and exciting choices of backpacks, lunchboxes and pencils! My children still love their themed pencils :)

I used to love new pencils and crayons. With 6 kids in the family it was just amazing to get new school supplies of any kind.

My grandson loves to get a new backpack and fill it with everything on their list plus other stuff. He likes mechanical pencils the best, I think. I enjoyed seeing your granddaughters and what they like in their backpacks.

My boys liked backpacks, too, but I'm the person in the family who still adores school supplies. I love the smell of freshly-sharpened pencils!

my favorite thing about 'back to school' is shopping for school supplies. I secretly still buy for myself as well. I saw many favorites listed here.

NO these kids are definitely NOT excited to be attending school by the time they get to the 4th grade
