The Mighty Mouse Show Saturday Morning Cartoons Pop Culture for kids

The Mighty Mouse Cartoon-Pop Culture and Saturday Morning Cartoons. The Mighty Mouse Cartoon was my first introduction to superheroes. On Saturday morning cartoons for kids were time for the children in my family had free reign on the television and Mighty Mouse was watch religiously. This cartoon show was exciting and filled with suspense and aided in moral development about right and wrong. Mighty Mouse flew through the sky singing, "here I come to save the day" and rescued his girlfriend in distress.

Mighty Mouse one of my favorite superheroes is a memory I will never forget. It represents pop culture at a time in my life when I was allowed to enjoy my Saturday morning superheroes and be off from school with my siblings. We took care of each other and spent quality time together. I have fond memories of my older brother sitting in my dad's chair side by side with me reading his Mighty Mouse comics to me after the show was over. I wasn't allowed to touch his comics but he did read them to me.

This photo is of the cover of one of my brothers treasured superheroes comics. He has quite a superhero collection, I thank him for sending it to me. He really loves his collection.

The Mighty Mouse Theme Song - By Philip Scheib & Marshall Barer - 1955

Superheroes theme songs always got me running to take my place in front of our black and white television. Back then there were only 3 channels and they only broadcast shows, Monday-Friday starting at about noon and promptly at 11:00 PM the Star Spangle Banner and the Air Force Blues songs were played to close the day of broadcasting. But on Saturday, there was broadcasting starting a 9:00 AM and my sibling and I had a bowl of cheerios and waited patiently at the TV for the test pattern to end.

Saturday morning pop culture superheroes cartoons for kids were for us, our parents slept in and we had FULL control of the television, we were even allowed to change the channel. Changing the channel was not allowed the rest of the week in fear of one of the four of us breaking or wearing out the TV. We were so cool! Saturday morning cartoons for kids a time that was special.

The TV test pattern faded and there is was the Mighty Mouse Cartoon Show. Ahh! Not one of us talked or made a sound. Then there it was the theme song.

Saturday Morning Cartoons for Kids - Mighty Mouse One of the Superheroes

The Mighty Mouse Cartoon that I am familiar with began with Pearl Pureheart in some sort of distress and Mighty Mouse singing in a opera-type voice. He would battle cats punching and beating them mercilessly until they ran from the scene. He would sometime fly up to his unusually large villain and throw punches at him until he surrendered.

Oil Can Harry was the arch-enemy of Mighty Mouse was the antagonist and Mighty Mouse the hero. He was a super hero that I haven't forgotten and any others can long after my introduction to him. I thought of him as someone who would save me from any crisis that might cross my path. We often imitated him in our own scenarios with our friends when we play outdoors later on Saturday.

There is a modern version of the Mighty Mouse Cartoon called the New Adventures of Mighty Mouse. I watched it with my grandchildren and found that it would never be as exciting as the original. During my childhood I had a t-shirt I was only allowed to wear on Saturday with Mighty Mouse in his famous hero pose.

WOW... I was so little when Mighty Mouse was on the TV - it is a classic! Sometimes, I wonder why they don't make any cartoons like these anymore....

It has been a while since I have watched Might Mouse, but it is a classic. I have been renting DVDs with many of the 'old' cartoons that I grew up watching and showing them to my kids. They love them. Much better than some of the stuff that is on TV these days. Well done!

I haven't seen Mighty Mouse in many years. As I kid in the '60s, I was a fan and remember singing the Mighty Mouse theme song all the time. And like you, I remember spending all Saturday mornings watching cartoons on TV. Enjoyed my visit here today.
