When Do You Use An Umbrella...

Updated on March 28, 2013

On A Rainy Day or Sunny Day?

First of all, this article is asking you when do you use an umbrella esp. if you lived in a country like Philippines? Is it on a rainy day or sunny day? By the way, Philippines has two seasons compared to other countries that have four: these are rainy and sunny days.

I always wonder and ask myself when is the right time and what is the best day to use an umbrella? It makes me sick and confused towards the actions of people I see on the street. Some carry a long umbrella (not a folding one) which they prefer to use only when the rain falls down and ignore the heat coming from the sun (sunlight). Others use umbrella on both or either of the two. Anyway, let's go back to the origin of using an umbrella, where it started and what was the real purpose of inventing it.

My advice is take time to read and gain knowledge from here.

Have fun and enjoy reading!

Origin of an Umbrella

Where it started and what is its purpose?

"...These ancient umbrellas or parasols, were first designed to provide shade from the sun. The Chinese were the first to waterproof their umbrellas for use as rain protection. They waxed and lacquered their paper parasols in order to use them for rain... "

Basically, what I really know is Chinese people were the maker of umbrella... That's the only thing I know about the history of umbrella and nothing else.

Now you know umbrella can be used either on sunny or rainy day based on history, I think it's time for you to listen to my opinion.

I assume that having an umbrella (the long one) can be used as hook in hooking someone you like.

What Can I Say On Sunny Day?

My opinion:

Women are more likely to use an umbrella than men when the sun dominates over the rain. They open the umbrella to protect their hair, head and skin from the heat of the sun. It also depends if the heat is slightly hot and easily to cope with. If that's the scenario, they tend to walk without an umbrella. On the other hand, you hardly see men carrying an umbrella (the long one) except when they want to keep themselves free from perspiration. They bring umbrella, face towel and extra shirt in case they feel too much heat caused by the sun.

Anyway, the best form of umbrella (if you are the type of person who do not like to carry extra thing) is to buy a folding umbrella. Why? So you can keep it inside your bag and bring it out (anytime) whenever you need it.

Another thing is you can use it as self-defense. If some bad guys approach, use it as baseball bat!

What Can I Say On Rainy Day?

My opinion:

Almost all people here (men and women) use umbrella. Why? It's simply because we don't want to get soaked in the rain. Besides, we are very familiar with it from the day we started schooling up to now. We also prefer to have it over a raincoat (though some still use the latter) due to its easy to dry and less space required.
