Cipher for the Theban Language of the Witches
That secret language of the witches
The secret language of the witches used for years as a code and cipher to hide spells, incantations, and communications of the book of shadows.
The origins of the Theban alphabet are lost in the mists of time. It is often called "The Runes of Honorius" after its reputed inventor, Honorius of Thebes. The Theban Alphabet is also referred to as the 'Witch's Alphabet'. Today as in during the times prior to the reformation, theban is used in modern Wicca and various other forms of pagan paths as a substitution to common scripts in cipher to keep prying eyes and to hide magical writings utilized by a book of shadows.
There is a one-to-one correspondence between letters of the Theban and Latin alphabets with the exception of the letters j and u. These letters are represented by the letters for i and v.
The Theban alphabet is used by witches to write spells, inscriptions and other texts. It serves to disguise the meaning of a text and to give it a mystical quality.

The Theban alphabet is very unlike other alphabets, and has not been found in any previous publications prior to 1518. So a referenced reading prior to that date is unknown at this time.
The Theban alphabet is a writing system of debated origins. It was first published in Johannes Trithemius' Polygraphia in 1518, that attributed it to Honorius of Thebes. Trithemius' student Agrippa (1486-1535) attributed it to Pietro d'Abano (1250-1316). Theban script is also known as the Honorian Alphabet or the Runes of Honorius after the legendary magus.
The letters of J, U, and W are not represented in the Theban script, but rather uses a translation of I, V, and VV. Theban and the old Latin alphabet have a similar correspondence. Theban script only is in a single case, no upper or lower case differentiation. Which has been suggested that Latin is the original cipher, coupled with various alphabets described by the historians Agrippa and Trithemius, which suggested it was based on either Latin or Hebrew.
